National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University has won two government grants to attract foreign scholars to create new innovative laboratories on nuclear energy and energy efficiency at the university in the three coming years.
In June 2010 the Government of the Russian Federation published a call for proposals to support research under supervision of leading scholars in Russian universities. 507 proposals have been submitted by scholars jointly with 179 Russian universities. Russian and international experts have selected 40 winners among which 20 were Russian scientists.
Each project will obtain up to 150 Mio rub for research in the period 2010-2012 with possible prolongation up to 2 years. The winners of the first call will receive total amount of the federal budget = 5,33 Bln rub (1,1 Bln rub in 2010, 2,33 Bln rub in 2011 and 1,9 Bln rub in 2012).
Tomsk Polytechnic University invited two European scholars from Iceland and Germany to create laboratories for research in energy and energy efficiency, and nuclear energy and technology accordingly.
